WELCOME · YOU ARE THE MAIN CHARACTER

Plug the leaks.
Build your future.

Your game helps you take action. Your monthly training helps you understand it, practice it, and make it stick.

01

Learn this month

Four lessons, household stories, and practical examples you can apply to your own records.

02

Do the real work

Weekly homework, four worksheets, and a private month-end review. Keep your game moving at its own pace.

03

Return and review

Your next month opens on its release date. Completing a game board or quiz does not rush the clock.

Follow the families. Make it yours.

The Carters, Millers, Torres family, David Brooks, and Nicole Bennett are fictional teaching companions. Their choices show possibilities; your circumstances, numbers, and decisions lead the way.

MONTH 1 · YOUR LEARNING AND PRACTICE

Find the Leaks

Back to welcome

The ten-question practice quiz is included below. Your formal scored quiz and certificate are provided through your membership training; the planned assessment release is day 25 after enrollment. Complete your weekly practice first.

Month 1 — Find the Leaks

Your game connection

Import and verify the MLS PDF; add every missing leak; choose STOP, REDUCE, DOWNGRADE, or KEEP; submit the filled inventory and redacted required evidence.

Open Board 1 — Find the Leaks

The game enforces its existing missions and evidence gates. This companion course does not change board locks. If the board is ahead, revisit and improve it. If it is locked, prepare the worksheet now and complete game actions after access opens. Do not claim completion of a locked board.

Release day 0 · Companion to Board 1

Your monthly outcome: Build a complete, verified inventory of your spending and choose what to stop, reduce, downgrade, or intentionally keep.

Lesson 1.1

Read your Leak Score without shame

Your Leak Score report is a starting point, not a verdict about your worth and not a credit score. Open the PDF from the assessment bot and locate its expense list, recurring charges, recommendations, and reporting period. The dashboard imports candidate leaks; you are responsible for checking each one against actual statements. A missing item does not mean the expense disappeared. A recommendation is not money recovered. Keep report findings, your decisions, and completed changes in separate columns. If the report uses a score, copy its stated scale and methodology; do not invent a universal scoring formula. Your goal this month is understanding before action.

Worked example: A report flags a $30 streaming bundle. Your statement shows $35 after a price increase. Record $35 as the verified current monthly cost and note the report difference.

Your action: Upload the report to Board One, check every imported row, and add any missing expense manually. Record the report date and statement date in Worksheet 1A.

Practice: explain this lesson with one of your own records. What did you verify, what remains uncertain, and what would change your decision?

Fictional teaching episode · illustrative figures · not a customer result

Marcus and Danielle Carter

After the car repair, Marcus wants another job immediately. Danielle asks for one evening with their statements first. They find a $48 unused service, a mobile-plan opportunity, and a smaller entertainment plan to research. They keep the children’s valued activities visible. Their earlier $225–$350 recovery target remains a hypothesis, not cash. Their first win is agreeing to review without blame.

Notice the decision, not the household’s identity. Their example does not set your amount, timeline, or outcome.

Now apply this to your situation

Use one of your own source records to explain the lesson. What is verified, what is uncertain, and what must not be copied from the example?

Your task remains find the leaks. Do not submit an avatar’s numbers as your own evidence.

Lesson 1.2

Find every recurring and irregular expense

Review bank, card, payment-app, and business statements. Include subscriptions, memberships, software, insurance, phone plans, fees, and spending habits you want to examine. Look backward far enough to find annual charges; use up to twelve months where available. Convert annual expenses to monthly equivalents by dividing by twelve. Keep a separate cash-due date because a monthly equivalent does not change when an annual bill is actually payable. Avoid counting the same charge twice when a payment app and bank both show it. Separate household and business records. Some expenses are necessary, valuable, or contractually committed; those are not automatically leaks.

Worked example: A $120 yearly subscription equals $10 per month for planning. Its renewal still requires $120 on the actual due date. A $40 monthly service plus this subscription totals $50 in monthly equivalents.

Your action: Use Worksheet 1A to reconcile all accounts. Flag duplicates and uncertain items for investigation rather than deleting them.

Practice: explain this lesson with one of your own records. What did you verify, what remains uncertain, and what would change your decision?

Fictional teaching episode · illustrative figures · not a customer result

Ryan and Ashley Miller

Ryan and Ashley compare three months of statements with Ashley’s spreadsheet. The separate cards explain why the budget looked better than the bank balance. A $120 annual app renewal becomes a $10 monthly equivalent, with its actual renewal date still recorded. They choose a small Fun allowance instead of declaring that all enjoyment must disappear.

Notice the decision, not the household’s identity. Their example does not set your amount, timeline, or outcome.

Now apply this to your situation

Choose your next safe action. Name the date, any cost or dependency, and the evidence you will use to check the outcome.

Your task remains find the leaks. Do not submit an avatar’s numbers as your own evidence.

Lesson 1.3

Choose a purpose for every expense

Use four decisions: stop, reduce, downgrade, or intentionally keep. Stop means end a service you no longer need. Reduce means negotiate a lower price or lower usage. Downgrade means switch to a smaller plan. Keep means its benefits justify its cost within your priorities. Write a reason, not just a label. Consider contract fees, health and safety, insurance needs, business dependencies, and household agreements before changing anything. Potential savings are a forecast. They remain unverified until the price change becomes effective. There is no requirement to cut useful essentials to earn points.

Worked example: A $60 plan may be reduced to $45, producing a potential $15 monthly saving. Keeping a $20 service produces no saving but can still be a deliberate, well-supported decision.

Your action: Complete Worksheet 1B for every leak, not only the top three. Pick actions based on impact, effort, and risk.

Practice: explain this lesson with one of your own records. What did you verify, what remains uncertain, and what would change your decision?

Fictional teaching episode · illustrative figures · not a customer result

Rafael “Ralph” and Maria Torres

Rafael and Maria discover a mobile add-on and a forgotten subscription. Maria also lists the help they give relatives. They decide family support needs an agreed limit, not an automatic leak label. Seasonal overtime stays separate from reliable income. The collection is recorded for investigation, not counted as spending savings or assumed removable.

Notice the decision, not the household’s identity. Their example does not set your amount, timeline, or outcome.

Now apply this to your situation

Test or review the action during your weekly check. Record the actual result, including a pending or unsuitable decision when appropriate.

Your task remains find the leaks. Do not submit an avatar’s numbers as your own evidence.

Lesson 1.4

Build your first thirty-day money habit

A board can be cleared quickly, but awareness requires repeated observation. Schedule a ten-minute daily check and a weekly money meeting. Note the situation before unplanned spending: fatigue, urgency, social pressure, convenience, or a forgotten renewal. Choose one small interruption such as a waiting period or renewal reminder. Ask whether the change preserved something important. At month end, compare the complete list with new statements, not just your memory. Submit a filled worksheet and a redacted report or supporting summary. Board evidence and the training quiz are separate requirements. Never upload account passwords, full account numbers, or Social Security numbers.

Worked example: You notice three convenience purchases after late workdays. Preparing one simple meal changes the trigger without declaring all food spending a leak.

Your action: Complete Worksheet 1C each week, correct Board One when you learn something new, then take the module quiz.

Practice: explain this lesson with one of your own records. What did you verify, what remains uncertain, and what would change your decision?

Fictional teaching episode · illustrative figures · not a customer result

David Brooks

David finds a phone plan still sized for his former household. He keeps a planned amount for visits with the children and checks overlapping subscriptions. He does not call support obligations a leak. A weekly fifteen-minute review fits his shifts better than a complicated daily spreadsheet. His repair worry becomes a reason to build a reserve, not proof he has failed.

Notice the decision, not the household’s identity. Their example does not set your amount, timeline, or outcome.

Now apply this to your situation

Explain the concept in your own words, reconcile the month’s worksheet, and write one habit or follow-up to carry forward.

Your task remains find the leaks. Do not submit an avatar’s numbers as your own evidence.

Your four-week mission

  1. Days 1–7: obtain the PDF and statements; inventory every account and verify all report rows. Start a daily spending observation log.
  2. Days 8–14: inspect annual renewals and payment apps; remove duplicates; assign one decision and reason to every expense.
  3. Days 15–21: test one spending interruption, discuss shared expenses, and compare potential savings with contractual costs.
  4. Days 22–30: reconcile the list to fresh activity; submit the completed inventory and decision worksheet; review lessons and take the quiz.

Month-end portfolio

Keep all four completed worksheets, four weekly log entries, and relevant dated supporting records privately. If an action is pending or not appropriate, document the reason and the next review date. Do not fabricate outcomes to finish the month.

A different situation, the same principle

Fictional teaching episode · illustrative figures · not a customer result

Nicole Bennett

Nicole finds an unused $12 monthly app and an account-fee issue to investigate. Her audit does not reveal hundreds of spare dollars. That result is useful: after removing avoidable charges, income and essential-cost relief may matter more than deeper cuts. Her irregular child support remains outside the reliable-income baseline. Her effort and knowledge are respected.

Notice the decision, not the household’s identity. Their example does not set your amount, timeline, or outcome.

Your monthly mastery check

Complete Worksheets 1A, 1B, 1C, your four weekly accountability entries, and the new Scenario to My Situation reflection. Keep relevant dated and redacted evidence.

Quality check: A full reconciled list with source dates and decisions, not just the top three.

Teach it back: explain one important distinction without looking at the lesson, apply it to your own record, and name the next safe action. Quiz passing earns the educational certificate; portfolio review and game mission and final-sheet requirements remain separate.

Month 1 · learn, practice, review

Your thirty-day mission

Build one complete, reconciled expense inventory and choose intentional next actions.

Keep homework outside the game in your private portfolio. A new training opens every 30 days from enrollment; finishing boards faster does not change that schedule.

Week 1: Read the starting picture

Read Lessons 1.1 and 1.2. Collect your Leak Score report and the dated source statements it used. Reconcile every account, annual bill, subscription, fee, and irregular expense in Worksheet 1A. Mark missing information and duplicate rows instead of guessing.

Keep privately: Complete inventory with source dates; list of missing facts to investigate.

Week 2: Decide what each expense is for

Read Lesson 1.3. Complete Worksheet 1B for every leak: STOP, REDUCE, DOWNGRADE, or KEEP. Write a specific reason and a realistic first action for each change. Contact a provider for a current price or renewal date when needed.

Keep privately: Full decision list; estimated monthly opportunities clearly labeled as estimates.

Week 3: Test the inventory against real life

Read Lesson 1.4. Compare a new statement or current account record with your list. Look for omitted bills, replacement spending, introductory prices, or annual renewals. Correct Board One if already open. Log the check in Worksheet 1C.

Keep privately: At least one dated follow-up check; corrections or a reason no correction was needed.

Week 4: Teach it back and close the month

Reconcile 1A and 1B again. Finish the four weekly log entries, Worksheet 1D, and the month-end review. Explain why an estimated leak is not cash recovered. Take the formal ten-question quiz when released.

Keep privately: Complete private homework portfolio; quiz result; next review date.

Your end-of-month checkpoint

Can another person follow every expense back to a dated source? Have I kept estimated savings separate from actual recovery?

Finish Worksheets 1A–1D and four weekly log entries. Explain a fictional family decision using your own facts. Take the released ten-question formal quiz near month-end; 8/10 earns the module certificate. A practice copy does not issue certificates or unlock training. Save actual game work and upload only its short final completion sheet.

Continue: Return to your inventory next month; decisions become real recovery actions on Board Two.

Ten-question practice quiz

Choose one answer per question. Pass at 8/10 or higher. The formal quiz is scheduled 25 days after this module opens; this downloadable practice copy neither grades nor issues certificates. Review missed concepts before retaking.

1. The Millers pay $120 annually for an app. What monthly equivalent belongs in the leak inventory?

  1. $120
  2. $12
  3. $10
  4. $1

2. Nicole finds only a few avoidable charges after checking all expenses. What is the best next planning response?

  1. Invent more savings to match the others
  2. Verify the small changes and also evaluate income and essential-cost relief
  3. Cut essential childcare regardless of consequences
  4. Assume she did the audit incorrectly

3. The same purchase appears in a payment app and a bank statement. How should it be counted?

  1. Once after reconciling the transaction
  2. Twice because two records exist
  3. Not at all
  4. As extra income

4. Which decision describes moving to a smaller service plan?

  1. Stop
  2. Keep
  3. Reduce usage only
  4. Downgrade

5. Which amount belongs in verified current cost?

  1. An old advertisement
  2. The report estimate despite a price change
  3. The actual recent charge for the relevant period
  4. The hoped-for new rate

6. A forecast shows $25 monthly savings. What has been proved?

  1. A potential saving, not yet a completed recovery
  2. A guaranteed $300 cash balance
  3. A completed cancellation
  4. A debt payoff

7. What should an intentional keep decision include?

  1. A blank reason
  2. Its value and affordability within your priorities
  3. A fake cancellation receipt
  4. An automatic savings amount

8. Which belongs in the inventory?

  1. Only the three largest subscriptions
  2. Only charges in the PDF
  3. Only unnecessary purchases
  4. All relevant recurring and irregular expenses found in your review

9. What should be removed from evidence before uploading?

  1. The merchant name
  2. The month under review
  3. Full account numbers and sensitive identifiers
  4. The action outcome

10. You clear Board One on day 3. When is Module Two scheduled?

  1. Immediately
  2. Day 30 after enrollment while membership is active
  3. After purchasing an investment
  4. Only after all eight boards

Your weekly homework

Month 1: homework and monthly checkpoint

Outcome: Build one complete, reconciled expense inventory and choose intentional next actions.

Game connection: Board 1 — Find the Leaks.

This training opens at enrollment. The next module remains time-locked even if your game boards are ahead. Keep earlier modules available while your membership is active. Use the same month-long practice rhythm whether the matching game board is ahead, current, or still locked.

Suggested workload: four focused weekly work sessions plus brief record checks and real-world follow-ups. Use the time your tasks actually require; this is a thirty-day practice window, not thirty days of video viewing. Do not invent transactions or completed actions to meet a deadline.

Week 1 — Read the starting picture (days 1–7)

Read Lessons 1.1 and 1.2. Collect your Leak Score report and the dated source statements it used. Reconcile every account, annual bill, subscription, fee, and irregular expense in Worksheet 1A. Mark missing information and duplicate rows instead of guessing.

Keep in your private portfolio: Complete inventory with source dates; list of missing facts to investigate.

Weekly log: Date / action completed / source record reference / actual result or blocker / next action and date.

Week 2 — Decide what each expense is for (days 8–14)

Read Lesson 1.3. Complete Worksheet 1B for every leak: STOP, REDUCE, DOWNGRADE, or KEEP. Write a specific reason and a realistic first action for each change. Contact a provider for a current price or renewal date when needed.

Keep in your private portfolio: Full decision list; estimated monthly opportunities clearly labeled as estimates.

Weekly log: Date / action completed / source record reference / actual result or blocker / next action and date.

Week 3 — Test the inventory against real life (days 15–21)

Read Lesson 1.4. Compare a new statement or current account record with your list. Look for omitted bills, replacement spending, introductory prices, or annual renewals. Correct Board One if already open. Log the check in Worksheet 1C.

Keep in your private portfolio: At least one dated follow-up check; corrections or a reason no correction was needed.

Weekly log: Date / action completed / source record reference / actual result or blocker / next action and date.

Week 4 — Teach it back and close the month (days 22–30)

Reconcile 1A and 1B again. Finish the four weekly log entries, Worksheet 1D, and the month-end review. Explain why an estimated leak is not cash recovered. Take the formal ten-question quiz when released.

Keep in your private portfolio: Complete private homework portfolio; quiz result; next review date.

Weekly log: Date / action completed / source record reference / actual result or blocker / next action and date.

End-of-month homework review

Complete Worksheets 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D (Scenario to My Situation), plus four weekly log entries. Apply the fictional household example to your own facts; do not copy its numbers as your results.

Answer the teach-back question: Can another person follow every expense back to a dated source? Have I kept estimated savings separate from actual recovery?

Record one real result, one correction or remaining uncertainty, one blocker, and one next action/date.

Check the game record if accessible. If you already cleared that board, revisit it; if it is locked, finish the learning homework and return when the game unlocks it. Training does not unlock game boards.

Use only the matching board’s short final Word completion sheet for its required upload. Do not upload the whole homework portfolio, receipts, or sensitive originals simply to finish training. Necessary report imports remain available.

Take the formal ten-question quiz near month-end, from day 25 of this module’s practice window. Passing is 8/10; review feedback and retry if needed. Passing earns the module certificate; a practice HTML quiz is not the formal assessment and cannot issue certificates.

Preserve the result and certificate reference. A passing quiz does not release the next training early. Homework remains required learning practice; do not invent a hidden extra certificate gate.
